Profile
Marcia Abdul-Korah
Storyteller and a Doctoral Researcher in Film Practice
Welcome to my Profile! I am a storyteller and doctoral researcher in film practice, working at the intersection of filmmaking, decolonial scholarship, and creative pedagogy. Over the past five years, I have worn many hats across film, advertising, and academia, taking on roles as writer, producer, and assistant director to deliver well-crafted films, documentaries, and TV commercials. My role in academia allows me to work not only as a researcher (when I’m researching into decolonial practices in contemporary Ghanaian cinema), but also in management positions. I have held managerial and teaching roles, including serving as the Project Manager for Africa, on the UKRI‑funded Developing a Media Decolonisation Imaginary project. I have also delivered lectures and workshops within the academy, including at the prestigious Ivy League institution, Cornell University.
Across all these settings, my goal remains to lend my voice towards repositioning African storytelling from the periphery to the centre of global narrative discourses and practices.
